The Nursery is situated on top of St Peters Hospice, Estate Agents
and Solicitors. Its maximum occupancy is 30 children per day and takes children from Birth To 5 Years.
Helen Moses, Operational Assistant, deals with the day to day running
of the Nursery, along with her Operational Team and other colleagues.
The Nursery is separated into three main
areas (but still an open plan layout), the Baby Area, Transition Area and Main Area.
The Activities,
and the use of play equipment, offer and enable children to
develop in
an environment free of prejudice and discrimination. Children will be encouraged to explore,
acknowledge
and value similarities and differences between
themselves and others.

The Baby Area is a safe, stimulative
area, filled with educational, sensory and fun toys. The area is bright and attractive, encouraging children to learn through
fun play and activities.
Jan Denford is the supervisor of the Baby
Area, with 10 years experience; she is highly knowledgeable when it comes to children, and especially babies.
Jan, along with the other Nursery staff, work within the Baby Area on a weekly rotational basis, enabling children to get to know familiar faces and become comfortable
with them. As the staff rotate between each area, the children are more confident when moving to a new area, as they will
already be familiar with the staff there.
In the Baby Area each child will have their own box for nappies, spare clothes
and any other items that are needed.
We ask you to provide nappies and milk (if formula) but everything else we
supply eg nappy bags, wetwipes, sudocrem.

The children will move into the the Transition
Area when they are somewhere between the ages of 1 and 2 years, however, this is based on whether the child is developmentally
ready rather than the right age.
The Transition Area is used to
introduce the children to simple structure such as helping to tidy up or to sit on a chair. Through this structure they are
encouraged to develop independence

The Main Area
The children normally move into the Main Area of the Nursery at the age of 2 years. In this area we get them ready for
the structure of Pre-school (or school depending on their age). The children in this area are encouraged to sit at the tables,
help tidy up, join in with group time etc.
Children from the Main Area will get an automatic place at Pre-school when age appropriate and a place becomes available.
Pre-school

The Pre-school is situated across the courtyard from the Nursery
(opposite the Beijing Restaurant).
Zoe Watkins, Operational Manager, deals with the
day to day running of the Pre-school, along with her Operational Team and other staff overseeing the running
of the Nursery and Pre-school in Sheila's absence
The children of the Pre-school are encouraged to develop their own skills,
both inside and outside, through fun, stimulative play, working within the Guidlines of the Birth to Three and Foundation
Stage curriculum.
We also have a Children's Curriculum running alongside, which lets the children
express their views and feelings about what they want to learn about.
